Report: The 5K loop and Arlberg bike path are groomed. On the 5K, the 2 K Loop is hard & fast and the 4 and 5K loops are lovely and soft. Careful when you come skiing back toward the conex’s it’s a little icy at the trailhead. Enjoy your day! #girdwoodnordic #springskiing...
Out here grooming the overnight snow. The 5K Loop is nice and mellow with this fluffy snow. It went from hard and fast, to slow and quiet. The downhills turned from ripping to enjoyable. It’s a great time to try it out if you haven’t put on your skis this year. The Arlberg Bike path is groomed, as well, which is a perfect place to practice balance and stride. We, members of the GNSC board will be at the Anchorage Assembly tonight to continue to support the Girdwood Comprehensive Plan - S Version. We support the opportunity to create more upland trails for year-round recreation - so relevant on low snow years like this where the wetland trail system remains off limits to grooming, and even 2-legged and 4-legged foot traffic at times. The 5K was groomed this morning! SKI safely and enjoy the softened surface. The flat & uphill sections have about 3” of sugary snow on a solid base. A few downhills have icy sections, and the 5K downhill has a few rocks poking out. The loops are SKI ONLY!! HEADS UP! The new light snow was sticking to the machine instead of the ice so we’ll wait a while to groom the 5K until the new snow adheres to the old snow and ice. There’s three patches of bare ice on the 2 km loop please be careful....
