Peter groomed the 5K Nordic Loop and set new classic track on it this morning.  He's out grooming the Upper Meadows and Arlberg bike trail now (1:00 pm, Monday).  Join and support the Girdwood Nordic Ski Club.  Enjoy Winter!...

The hard surface on the 5K Nordic Loop was scuffed up this morning.  Skiing should be pretty good.  The downhills will be very fast - use caution.  The Upper Meadows were groomed, as well as the connector trail from the Upper Meadows through Enchanted Forest and Conway Meadow to the Moose Meadow.  Lots of overflow in the Moose Meadow prevented grooming there.  Do your best snow dance - we need some new snow....

Arlberg Multi- use path and 5 K were groomed last night. Temps cooled last night so expect FAST conditions. Tracks are still in but are glazed. Edges of 5 K groom may be soft. Moose Meadow and Upper Meadow Loop will be groomed as soon as water subsides with more stable temps.  pz  ...

Went out today and groomed Arlberg  multi use path and 1 K loop. All other trails will need to drain water awhile before we can get our groomers back out there. Warm temps and 2 " of  water in the last 2 days means we need cold, or no more rain so our trails can drain and harden . Hope for the best! pz...

Everything got touched up again today for tomorrow. Thanks to CPG for grooming the upper meadow Loop, We have started the process of  smoothing it all out to a nice skiing surface.  It is still a little rough in spots on the connector from church to Arlberg parking. but most of the trail is in good shape. Get out there and enjoy winter!  Join and continue to support trails in the Girdwood valley. pz...

Cold temps and fog have kept trails hard even after a groom. Jim went out this afternoon and softened up the 5 K with the drag. Track are still in there and FAST ! Then he went over to Moose Meadow where he handed off the groomer to Deb who finished up the groom. Trails should be in pretty good ski shape all through the park. pz...

Thanks to CPG for smoothing out a practice area for Girdwood XC team! Connector trail between Arlberg Parking Area and Moose Meadow a little rough in spots. Not quite enough snow to work with. All scratched up and enjoyable skiing for the most part. Upper Meadow was  not  groomed  today. pz...

All groomable trails in Girdwood Valley were groomed today, including the Upper Meadows, Moose Meadow, 5K Nordic Loop and connector trails.  Classic track was set on the 5K Nordic Loop.  With the warm temperatures, the surface snow had a high moisture content.  That means if it goes below freezing tonight, the trails will be a bit icy in the morning.  After lunch Tuesday sounds like a great time to get out for a ski.  Enjoy winter....

Jeff went out this afternoon in zero - ish temps and groomed everything. Just in time for the Girdwood Grizzly Ski team's daily training. Their team has 15 athletes this year! We still have a few rough spots out there but all trails are looking great and skiing well. Expect a warm- up over the next few days. Enjoy winter!...

Yesterday, we groomed the 5K Nordic Loop, the Moose Meadows and the connector trail between them.  Today, a number of volunteers including Eryn Boone, Jeff Samuels and Peter Zug filled in low spots and wet areas in the Upper Meadows.  Then, Jeff and Eryn groomed them.  First time this year for these Meadows.  It's cold, but the skiing should be great....

Last night Alyeska Resort did a once over on the 5K Nordic loop. The trail looks great ! Thanks to Rowley and Brian for showing up and smoothing things out. Expect an inch or more of new light snow on the surface. Our groomers put a track in behind the Alyeska cat. Skiing should be good on all trails.pz...

Groomers were out to spiff up the 5 K. Tracks are planned for tomorrow AM. Colder temps are freezing overflow areas in Moose Meadow and connector trails to Arlberg Parking lot now. We hope for a Saturday morning groom of Moose And connector trails to pull it all back together. Thanks for the support of trails in the Girdwood Valley. pz...

Yesterday afternoon Shane groomed and tracked the 5 K.  It is in pretty good shape. Afterward he drove to Moose Meadow but encountered numerous wet spots both in Conway's Meadow and Moose Meadow.  He found the area too wet to groom and was forced to do a hasty retreat after only one round in Moose meadow. We will have to wait until temperatures get colder to allow the surface to freeze  up before we are able to groom that area. Skiing and walking in these wet overflows may be a bit damp. Be prepared to avoid wet spots . The forecast indicates  a cooling trend so keep your fingers crossed. pz...
