Yesterday, we groomed the 5K Nordic Loop, the Moose Meadows and the connector trail between them.  Today, a number of volunteers including Eryn Boone, Jeff Samuels and Peter Zug filled in low spots and wet areas in the Upper Meadows.  Then, Jeff and Eryn groomed them.  First time this year for these Meadows.  It's cold, but the skiing should be great....

Last night Alyeska Resort did a once over on the 5K Nordic loop. The trail looks great ! Thanks to Rowley and Brian for showing up and smoothing things out. Expect an inch or more of new light snow on the surface. Our groomers put a track in behind the Alyeska cat. Skiing should be good on all trails.pz...

Groomers were out to spiff up the 5 K. Tracks are planned for tomorrow AM. Colder temps are freezing overflow areas in Moose Meadow and connector trails to Arlberg Parking lot now. We hope for a Saturday morning groom of Moose And connector trails to pull it all back together. Thanks for the support of trails in the Girdwood Valley. pz...

Yesterday afternoon Shane groomed and tracked the 5 K.  It is in pretty good shape. Afterward he drove to Moose Meadow but encountered numerous wet spots both in Conway's Meadow and Moose Meadow.  He found the area too wet to groom and was forced to do a hasty retreat after only one round in Moose meadow. We will have to wait until temperatures get colder to allow the surface to freeze  up before we are able to groom that area. Skiing and walking in these wet overflows may be a bit damp. Be prepared to avoid wet spots . The forecast indicates  a cooling trend so keep your fingers crossed. pz...

Peter groomed the 5K Nordic Loop early this morning.  He reported that there was 2 to 3 inches of new snow last night.  New corduroy, but the classic tracks were not refreshed.  He's headed to the Moose Meadow now and will groom the new snow.  We're still not able to groom in the Upper Meadows because of numerous wet areas.  It hasn't been cold enough to freeze the ground yet.  Enjoy Winter!...

Warming temps and melt freeze have resulted in FAST conditions. Ski with caution and have fun. More grooming is being done now. Working to a spruce up Moose Meadow and connector trails. Have fun!...

Today Sharon and Jeff Samuels, Karen and Shane Bowlin and Peter Zug cleared a few downed trees in the 4 Corners area and Jeff and Sharon stayed on to groom Moose Meadow Loop and connecting trails to Arlberg Parking area. Groomers hope to get whole 5 K loop groomed  into the evening. Stay tuned , go out and ski.pz...

Bunches of new snow.  No grooming was done today because of a number of fallen trees.  We spent most of the day trying to clear that up, but there is at least one tree down across the trail.  PLEASE USE CAUTION WHEN IN THE GIRDWOOD FOREST.  HEAVY SNOW LOAD, RAIN SATURATED SOIL WHICH IS NOT FROZEN, AGING HEMLOCK TREES.  BE VIGILANT WHEN ON THE TRAIL; TREES CAN FALL ON YOU.  LETS BE CAREFUL OUT THERE!...

Plenty of new snow in Girdwood.  Choose your venue - 5K Nordic Loop, Meadows, Alyeska Resort, or plenty of back country.  The 5K Nordic Loop was groomed today - fresh corduroy, but no new tracks.  Deb will be grooming the Arlberg bike trail tonight.  Enjoy Winter!...

Lots of new snow.  Shane groomed it this morning, but there are no new classic tracks.  Looks like Deb will go out this evening for a tune up groom after the new snow that has fallen today.  Should be fantastic skiing.  Take advantage of this great snow, and grooming...

After more than a foot of snow over the last few days, Jim and Peter groomed around 6 hours between them today to get a pretty nice groom. Some alder on Corkscrew area and overall snow is soft but quite skiable. As always, ski with caution and have fun!  Welcome back to winter! Other trails still need to drain last weeks water and gain another 2 feet of snow. Stay tuned....

The 5K Nordic Loop is being groomed today.  Close to a foot of snow!  No classic tracks will be set in this groom, but the classic skiing should be excellent anyway.  The Arlberg Avenue bike trail is also being groomed.  Enjoy!...

Groomers were out last night for a track pack on the 5K . Our grooming season has begun. As of today, winter rules apply: We now are in Ski Only Mode! So please leave your bikes and dogs at home and bring your skis!...

As soon as we get enough snow to ski,  our trusty groomers will be out making your trails smooth. We are back to gravel on the 5K loop.   We are still in our multi- use trail mode but as soon as we receive groomable snow we are back to the ski- only status. Thanks for your support.
