This morning the grooming crew spiffed up the 5K , Arlberg multiuse path and ran up valley through the Upper Valley Loop Trail. (Still a little rough - just need another foot or so!) Forecast calls for snow changing overnight to rain and a warm and wet  Tuesday. If you are on a trail and see your feet, or bike are damaging the surface please consider an alternate route. Lets hope for lots more snow! pz  ...

Your trusty and hardy groomers were out again this morning. Our Chief Trail Conditions advisor said it skied GREAT ! Yesterday we took a few rounds to the upper meadow loop with our new Sno Dog groomer. Check it out and look for more news on our narrow guage multi- use trail groomer. Snow right around the freezing mark is likely to glaze up as the day progresses so get it while its still on the soft end of the spectrum. Join and support your local ski club and all  of your volunteer groomers. pz...

Peter is out grooming the 5K Nordic Loop as of 9:30 am this morning.  The snow is wet, but should make for some fun skiing.  With a little additional snow, we should be able to begin grooming the Moose Meadow and/or Upper Meadows in a few days....

Your Groomers went out this AM to spruce up the 5 K. It turned out pretty well. Even put some tracks on the two upper loops. Snow is thin on the lower loop hills and at the Kiosk area. Ski with caution , enjoy a great ski before your Thanksgiving Dinner. pz...

Peter is grooming the 5K Nordic Loop now.  He reported in from the trail that it's coming out really nice.  It should be a great day to get outside for a little recreation.  Please remember to keep your 'social distance' and be safe out there....

Peter was out grooming this beautiful morning. Hoping for cooler temps and more snow tonight.  The snow is fragile but ready for skis. Thank you volunteers and become a 20-21 Member today!...

On Sunday you will be able to go out and ski a thin but otherwise great ski surface on the 5 K. Our groomers will be out early to finish off work that Ben Kohler did today! Its early season conditions so watch out for thin spots especially on the lower sections of trail. We have minimal amount of snow out there so caution is advised always. Don't forget to Join and support GNSC and your local groomers. We will be out there for you and look forward to giving you the best surface possible. All other trails are in need of significant snow before we can start working on them. Luckily the 5K Nordic loop can open on minimal snow so go out and enjoy it! Rather write a check? Drop it in the mail, feel better, and enjoy all the trails. Help us purchase a Narrow Gauge Groomer! PO Box 337, Girdwood 99587...

It's chilly outside! Are you ready for winter? GNSC volunteers are: We're ensuring our trails are clear for snowpack, equipment is set to groom, and the skis are waxed. GNSC is fundraising for a Narrow Gauge Groomer!   Did you know? We're collaborating with local trail steward Ben Kohler, the brain behind a new Snow Dog trail groomer. Utilizing this machine will make our small trails in Girdwood ideal for classic skiing, walking, and biking. Ben has done the research and brought this concept to the Girdwood Trails Committee and our Girdwood Nordic Ski Club. He received overwhelming support from both and we are fundraising for a Snow Dog. It is easy to donate when you sign up for your 20-21 Membership under an additional line for "Donations."...

Take a walk, run or ride on the 5 K and help us control weeds on the trail bed. Hardy friends have been helping us for years on this ongoing problem but we need your help now. Especially over the Corkscrew hill. ( 2.5-3.5 K ) Anything  growing in the trail bed needs to be pulled. Throw it off trail or just leave it on the trail so we can see how much work you have put in for your club. Go on out and enjoy fall on the 5 K  and pull an alder! Thanks in advance from the GNSC Groomers!...

Gird your loins, it’s time for the Girdwood Marathon!! This is probably the only good news of 2020 so savor it. Choose the full 26.2 mile marathon or 13.1 mile half-marathon. The race starts and ends in the idyllic, forested village of Girdwood. The course takes you through town, along the Bird to Gird trail, into the mountains rich with autumn colors, and views of snow-dusted peaks. It’s probably going to rain or hail or both since it’s Girdwood, after all. Aid stations? No. This is a BYOBS race (Bring Your Own Bear Spray), along with water and a smile.   We will start the race in waves (COVID) and with waves. Covid says, “Race is limited to a maximum of 30 racers for the Marathon, maximum of 30 for the half.”  Thank you! October 3rd at 9am Meet at the Alyeska Daylodge. SIGN UP HERE ...

Grooming is over for the season but the trails still have snow. Our warm and wet weather has made it difficult to improve conditions with grooming so we have gone into off season multi use status on the 5 K Loop.  Meadows are likely to have wet spots so ski and walk with caution until snow settles or melts. Thanks for the support and stay tuned for News about future developments. Stay hunkered and safe and take a ski run or two for the groomers. Thanks to all the volunteers who made it all happen. Kyle and Margaret were always there with a helping hand.  Most importantly we thank all of the Members and contributors to our volunteer driven Ski Club. Have a great spring and summer. We will see you on the trails!...

The grooming season is just about a wrap.  We tried to smooth out the 5K Nordic Loop after we drove a snow machine around to pick up trail signs.  The snow is too soft to support a groom and I doubt if we'll be back out again this season.  Thanks to all of the loyal GNSC members and other trail users who make our efforts worthwhile.  And a big thank you to all of the grooming volunteers and support folks....

All trails got a onceover this morning. Some have new tracks too. Warmer temperatures and rain softened up surfaces then it got a few scant inches of new snow topping. Keep enjoying the snow while we have it. pz...

The 5K Nordic Loop, Upper Meadows, connector trails and the Moose Meadow were groomed this morning.  No classic tracks were set.  The snow is soft and should be a lot of fun to ski today.  The trails in forested areas are dirty with lots of tree debris, but still very skiable.  Get out there soon to enjoy the tail end of winter.  Happy Easter everyone....
