  • The trailbed is holding up well over countless days of rain in Girdwood throughout July & August. September is marching along and we hope you’ve been enjoying the trails, foraging, and all the season brings. Please mind your fellow trail users on bikes, leash, and seeking peace. Coming up is the Climbathon, Girdwood Marathon, GNSC Membership renewal, and stay tuned for a Ski waxing clinic this fall!   • There’s great hiking, biking, running, and often berry picking along the Nordic 5k trail! We have a challenge for you: See how many alders you can pull from the trail bed on your next 5k loop! GNSC is gearing up for another pre-season w/ activities and events outside: An Enduro Bike Race Aug 20th, XC Running, and the Girdwood Marathon Oct 1. Support your local ski club and let us know if you can volunteer this year....

  • Happy spring everyone! The 5K is still melting out and needs more time before we all walk, run, bike, and play along the loop. There are long stretches of 12″ deep snow between segments of dirt and gravel.  Please utilize other trails meanwhile and enjoy the rest of May! Thank you for supporting GNSC...

  • While skiing on the 5 K is still good, a groom just may appear sometime soon. Light rain and warmer temperatures are forecasted until tomorrow morning. Thanks for the GREAT YEAR of skiing and GNSC membership. Check out the Cross Country Alaska Uphill Ski Race Sunday morning at 9:00 AM at Alyeska Resort Daylodge. Finish is at the roundhouse.   • WE ARE STILL GROOMING 5K!! There is 2 ft of snow at the base, and 3 feet of snow at the top. Because this trail is not over wetland it is safe for us to continue to groom. We will groom the 5K until conditions dictate otherwise. Please no foot traffic or dogs while we continue to groom. Thanks! We are finished grooming in the meadows.   • Are you getting crusty?  Read on for TIPS from GNSC by clicking at right: Crust skiing/biking allows you to explore meadows and other spaces usually not accessed by skate skis or bike. The key weather ingredients are warm daytime temperatures to create a bit of melting, followed at night by temperatures below freezing, to make the slushy surface freeze and form a crust....
